Who is eligible to apply for the mentorship program?
The program is primarily aimed at early-career researchers and clinicians in the fields of Reproductive Medicine and Women’s Health, including PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, residents, fellows, and young professionals in the first years of their professional development.
Applications are open to candidates from all countries.
What is the application process?
To apply for a place, you must submit a letter of interest, your CV, and two letters of recommendation. The application period will be open from June 2 to July 15, 2026. All applications will be reviewed by the Carlos Simon Foundation selection committee.
How are mentors and mentees matched?
Mentees will be matched with mentors based on their research interests, professional goals, and alignment with the mentor’s expertise and career background.
During the application process, candidates will be able to indicate their preferred mentors. However, assignment to one of them cannot be guaranteed.
The matching process will take place after the application period has closed.
What kind of support will I receive from my mentor?
Your mentor will provide personalized guidance in areas such as research skills, career development, and networking opportunities. Regular meetings will be held to discuss progress and address any challenges you may face.
What is expected from mentees?
Mentees are expected to actively participate in the program, maintain regular communication with their mentors, and follow through on any commitments made during the mentoring period. Mentees are also encouraged to collaborate on research and become ambassadors for the program.
Additionally, mentees will be responsible for scheduling bimonthly meetings with their mentor and sending the schedule to mentorship@fundacioncarlossimon.com at the start of the program, prior to the first meeting.
Furthermore, mentees will be required to create a report (minutes) for follow-up after each meeting with their mentor.
Can I apply if I’m currently working full-time or studying?
Yes! The mentorship program is designed to accommodate your current studies or work. Meetings with your mentor and participation in program activities can be scheduled flexibly.
How often will mentees meet with their mentors?
Mentorship meetings will take place bimonthly (or more frequently, depending on the agreement between the mentor and mentee). These meetings can cover a variety of topics, from research methods to career advice, and are expected to last between 30-45 minutes.
Is there a fee to participate in the program?
No, the Carlos Simon Foundation Mentorship Program is a philanthropic initiative, and mentors participate voluntarily without financial compensation.
What language will the program be conducted in?
The program will be conducted in English
What happens after the program is completed?
Upon successful completion of the program, mentees will receive a certificate of recognition. Graduates are encouraged to stay connected with the Foundation and may even have the opportunity to return as mentors for future cohorts.
