Frequently Asked Questions
What programs do you offer?
We offer places for Bachelor’s Thesis and Master’s Thesis projects, with calls opened twice a year in June and January. Applications for PhD stays are accepted on an ongoing basis. We also offer shadowing stays throughout the year, subject to availability.
Is there any financial compensation?
Bachelor’s and Master’s Thesis placements are carried out as curricular internships linked to the student’s academic work, so they are not paid. A collaboration agreement between the Foundation and the student’s university is required. Shadowing programs have a registration fee, which may vary depending on duration and conditions.
Do I need to be enrolled at a university?
Yes. For Bachelor’s and Master’s Thesis placements, you must be enrolled in the corresponding course at your university, as the stay is formalized through a collaboration agreement between the center and the Foundation. For PhD students, you must be enrolled or in the process of joining a doctoral program. If you are unsure whether your university accepts agreements with us, please contact us before applying.
Can I apply from outside Spain?
Yes. We accept applications from international students. The collaboration agreement or internship documentation may be formalized with foreign universities, although administrative processes may take longer. We recommend contacting us sufficiently in advance.
What language is used at the Foundation?
The main language in the laboratories is English, especially in scientific meetings, publications, and presentations. Spanish is used in day-to-day activities. For international candidates, a functional level of scientific English is essential.
When will I know if my application has been selected?
We review all applications at the close of each call and contact all candidates, whether the answer is positive or not. The review process may take between two and four weeks after the call closes.
Can I indicate which researcher or research line I would like to work with?
Yes, and we encourage you to do so. In the form, you can indicate the research line that interests you most. Knowing your interests before applying helps us assess your application more accurately.
What happens if the call is closed?
You can check the date of the next call on this same page. For PhD applications, you can send us your application at any time. If you are interested in shadowing, please contact us directly and we will inform you about availability.
